Hi

Having troubles getting my pinion angle right on my BMR adjustable torque arm. Can anyone recommend a shop in the Richmond, Vancouver area that is competant at performance suspension work?

Thanks JA

measure pinion angle of trans, set diff angle the same,
there are tolerences but I would have to dig out some text books to find them and I'm not about to do that :)

i think factory is -2 deg, which is decent, thats so little its like practically straight lol id go -4 though if your lowered. in reality unless its really off, you wont notice the affects. or if you got like 500hp you will see more :D

it has to be within a range related to the tran angle or you'll get a vibration,

were talking stock car to not race car :)

Hi

I checked and the factory setup is usualy zero.* In other words the pinion points down the same degrees as the drive shaft points up.* I did not check it before I took the old torque arm off, but I am told it is about 3* & 3* which subtracts to 0*.

I do not have a hoist now so I tried to check it laying on the ground which is difficult.* I think now it is:

Drive shaft = +3*
Rear End = - 1* to 2*

It has a mild vibration under acceleration now and needs more negative angle.* It also looks like the arm is out of adjustment range, which means I can not get more negative angle on the pinion.* Somthing is off.* I am just too fat to fit under the car and I don't want to by jack stands and a jack just to adjust it.* I need to find a shop that is willing to spend about an hour screwing around wit it to get it right.* It sounds easy, but knowing my luck it will turn into a big problem.*

Thaks JA* * *

yes, one factor though is factory suspensions have rubber or poly bushings, not solid. so under power the diff tends to wind up. they say for stock 4th gen it should be about -2 deg and adjusted accordingly for lowered cars due to the change in geometry from being lower.
