Convertible GTA's were non-factory approved convertibles. The dealerships were the ones who sent the GTA T-Top cars to ASC for the conversion.

There were no 2nd gen Camaro's done by the factory. Any that you see (including the one in Richmond) is an aftermarket kit.

yes there are factory camaro converts 2nd gen, 78-81 especially, like mine, they are a factory option very rare, only made very few, like the hemi cuda 70 convert, there are only 12 of them. majority of them are indeed fake ones though

Believe me when I say, there were no convertibles done by the factory. Convertibles were discontinued in 1970 and were not offered by the factory due to a completely new body style.
There is no "Convertible" VIN number in its coding.

ive heard of them there were only like 20, they were special factory built cars for people in the higher ups at GM. they are worth close to 50,000 now. just like the hemi cuda convert in 70, there is no vin decode for it, but they made 12 and they are worth 400,000 USD now. very rare.
you will never see a real one, but it does exist, in some head honchos personal collection :) factory modded if you will

Perhaps.
I've never heard of this. But it's not really something the factory offered (publicwise) rather this would be privately to GM corporate officials. ;-)
So we BOTH stand corrected. ;-)

when did you start paying for the surcharge? becuase you only pay 3 years of a surcharge b4 you automatically go back to base rate as long as you don't crash again

hell my car wasnt made @ a gm factory
like cavaliers, and even mustangs at the time
ASC got a t-top car, chopped the roof, customized it, made everything work, voila its a convertible.

its really a very hack job,
if you really inspect where the cut were etc. you can tell they used a sawsall to cut the roof off
most anything where the convertible was as after thought isn't done at the factory
