Project 85Z - Step One complete *pics*

Got the motor and transmission pulled tonight! and it went surprisingly well once i got the tailshaft of the tranny off to detach it from the torque arm. Having lots of room and a good engine hoist is great* :cool:

Well i pushed it outside so i could pressure wash some of the crap out of the engine bay and decided to plunk the hood on and give the outside a half assed wash too. and i took some mid-project pics. :D

interior is alright actually, the floor mats suck but i can just throw some black rubber GM ones in there for more blackness. and i want to get some more modern seats, 4th gen or the like. Ill take a long look in there sooner or later.
im nearly to the engine bay painting stage, so ill need a no-AC airbox...

ive heard overheating 400s is a thing of the past, so many guys used to forget to run heads with steam holes and thats just murder for these motors. as long as the head and head gasket have the steam holes, its good to go, im even going with a bit of block filler probably. My biggest concern is core shift.

Buddy of mine has a 400 in a s10. No overheating problems and theres no overheating problems in that application.

my 400 never had any overheating problems...it did however shoot a frost plug outta the block after being between 4700 and 5100 rpm from brunette exit to 200th st on the #1. From there it got ugly with no water temp gauge.

morgan do you have a 400 block yet?? ive got a fresh 30 over 400 block that i might sell. Changing plans a bit
