hey guys i was driving yesterday and my Auto 4 spd tranny in my 92 Z doesnt downshift.. i have a B&M megashifter in it and going from OD to D it doesnt downshift so i tried D to 2 nothing.. same from 2 to 1 nothing.. DOES not downshift.. yet if i stop put er in 1st it stays in first but then if i left off the throttle at like 4000 rpm the rpms just drop.. not gradually like the motor actually does.. its like its falling into nuetral or something..
any help?!!!

Well the dropping RPM is a little strange, however I had a similar problem with a TH350 before and it was the shifter linkage that broke and it only worked for park and neutral. All the rest of the selections were incorrectly corresponded on the shifter bezel.
How long has it been acting like this?

if your cable fell off or broke on a 700-r4 DONT DRIVE IT until you fix it.. you could burn out your tranny in a day or two.

hes not talking about your shifter cable, hes talking about your T.V. cable, its kinda like what a kickdown cable is to a turbo hydromatic tranny, it senda a signal to the tranny through throttle position and tells the tranny what to do for certian operations, its very important thats hooked up or the tranny does bad things to itself :-\

this cable also CONTROLS FLUID PRESSURE, that is why if its too tight it will not provide enuf fluid to the clutch packs and burn them out
I did this 2x because I wanted it to shift earlier
oh well

You should let him know that you have the TH700-R4 not the 4L60-E. If I'm not mistaken, the only thing electronically controlled on your tranny should be the speedometer. Please someone correct me if I am wrong.
