Hello everyone - new member checking in. I am an oldtimer who raced in the early days of the Trans-Am series (68-73). Don't race any more but am still active with one camaro and two Firebird road race cars (and 2 Datsun 510 road race cars).
Have had some camaro street cars previously and it is time for another one, so am looking for maybe a second or third gen that can pass air care! Any leads appreciated. Thanks.

Welcome to the site. Sounds like you've had an awesome racing history.
BTW, if you're looking for a 3rd gen that will pass aircare and is easy on the eyes, be sure to check this hot little number out:

Good stuff. Go for 2nd gen, as I'm sure you already know double wishbone outhandles McPherson any day of the week and they just simply look cooler.

You obviously have never driven a WS6 in prime shape. I have, and I can tell you it'll outhandle half the cars coming out of dealers today. And that was factory, in case you missed it there are some seriously high performance aftermarket suspension parts for 2nd gens.

ive made this argument before, they think 2nd gens suck at handling for some reason. ive owned 2 4th gens and my 79 Z28 when it still had its suspension could outrun both of them in the corners. a z28/ws6 with fresh suspension/bushings is set on kill with some decent rubber.

Oh well, let em be ignorant. I just hope I'm there to see it when their oh-so-modern 3rd and 4th gens get their asses handed to them in the corners by a 2nd gen.

Ive driven my Dad's 71 RS and 77 Z28 Camaros, neither of them impressed me as much as you biased 2nd gen lovers
you're calling me ignorant? go drive a car actually designed for handling and you'll realize how a Fbody is incredibly off balanced and how it resembles a boat compared to a real sports car

Dude, I've driven a lot of different cars! Including some that were great handlers. Don't get me wrong, there are cars that can easily outhandle a stock WS6/Z28, but not as many as you would think. ALSO! There is a big difference between early 2nd gens and later 2nd gens, I believe in 78 they put a bit more time into the suspension and came out with the best of the breed in terms of handling. Go drive a (good condition) 78-81 WS6 4 wheel disc Trans Am and then tell me they don't handle that well.
they dont
you guys are wierd
