its probably real, however, since modified heavily from its players days.. cage looks like an east coast early style cage

Yep that is a player's car that kept on racing after it was done in the series. There are a few out East like this.
I'd guess at least 25% of the cars that weren't destroyed continued racing for a few years.
My 1988 raced in the firehawk series in 89 and perhaps 90 as a Denon sponsored car. Rumours are that it was raced by a few famous drivers ... but no proof yet.

Hey Mark.
You have seen pictures of this car before! (Think black, with flames!) I believe this was the car I went to see, (Then discovered the 1986 Players that I bought) back last winter. The Guild is right around the corner from Steve K's shop! They must of bought it, repainted, or partial, re/re the motor, to re-sell! The car was in great shape; Had an awesome race engine; I hedged because the serial number was removed.

Yes it certainly looked familiar when I saw the photo and yes something with Steve K rang a bell with me as well. I know in my travels I spoke to someone who worked there ... but I can't recall the details right now. It might be how I found Steve K originally was a contact there.
