car used to be auto, and no one seems to have a t5.. So I'm thinking of buying an auto to put in temporarily. how hard would it be to go back to auto?

you'd need all the interior shit and it mounts where the hole was cut for shifter,

get a T5 out of 4.3L S10 :)

look up JKL auto wrecking

So how different does an auto mount compared to a standard? I thought I'd be an easy bolt on..

Mike has a 700r4 in stock right now coming off a red 91, thought I'd talk to him about it. Plus I wouldn't get an auto unless there was a shifter to go with it.

well you can just weld a plate over that hole where your shifter is and I have my stock shifter still. -Relay :azn: but we could make it work I think......actually i have to double check for that stock relay I MIGHT still have it. :)

wouldn't be that hard just might need to weld a plate in over shifter hole

call JKL they'll have a 5 speed, you'll hate auto

I'll call them tomorrow.

As per hating auto, it's possible. It's only a temporary measure which I'm willing to take to get my car modded ;). I wouldn't install auto unless I had a B&M shifter like Zok's.

i dont think you'll hate auto...i hardly miss 5 speed but i have one out back i can drive whenever i feel like it...its still cool to have stick once in a while.i, too have all the stock shifter parts if u wanna go that route but a B&M would be the way to go.

Awesome! Congrats buddy!
Yeah quite honostly I don't mint the auto as much now since I put the megashifter in....plus if you put a stage 2 shift kit in the tranny, like jason said in that other thread I think it'd be as good as a maual.

get a T5 out of 4.3L S10 :)

look up JKL auto* wrecking

There's a few problems with this idea. The bellhousing is angled on the 4.3 T5 and straight on the V8 T5, this problem can be solved pretty easily by swapping bellhousings. The bigger problem is the S10 uses a foward style shifter, if you put a S10 tranny in a Camaro, the shifter will be sitting around where the radio is. The cases can be switched around, Ive never done it before, but Im sure its quite a hassle. Some of the earlier 4.3 T5's had wierd input shafts I think 1" by 14 spline which wont work.

ahh,

I figured they would be the same cause the 4.3L is basicly a SBC with 2 cylinders missing

yeah its fucked you wouldnt know it until you looked at a 4.3 T5 out of the truck

Mustang T5's can work too, but you need to buy a convertered bellhousing, I think advance adaptors sells them but they are pricey

no, they're a truck tranny they have a deeper first gear designed for when they are carrying a load in the back

1st 3.75
2nd 2.19
3rd 1.41
4th 1.00
5th 0.74

I'm still not understanding why ppl are really not into the auto trannys. I really really don't mind my 700...Yeah its sloppy right now kuz i'v been beating the shit out of it, but that'll all get resolved. But then again I havn't driven enough 5spds to really have a say on how they drive.
