i wish!!
actually there was talk on another forum of having a competition with 2 pyramid hyper pro 12s...you have unlimited power and unlimited box parameters and just see how loud you can make it
sounds interesting

lol thats halarious! a old buddy of mine had a 800watt pyrmid pos i hooked my ZR 12 to it and it kept turning off and heating up the amp massively, in all about 30 sec. couldnt supply 20 clean watts i guess lol

I heard they are bringing in a power rating standard so companies like pyramid can't claim there amp put out 800 watts, it'll be funny to see what they rate pyramid amps

Thats a pretty burly number to be tossing around. Where is the home page with a spec on that amp? I'm curious to see what they are about.

I checked it out I think this is the home page, seems legit probally max output not rms

nope thats rms wattage...its a bit underrated, pushes closer to 2700 with a good electrical system

externally fused...i believe they recommend a 200 amp

Well.....that would make sense. 200A*12V=2400Watts.

that would be 2400 watts max at 12 volts not rms

no sir...fuses can take more than what they are rated at for short bursts. the dynamic (max) power rating is 2700 watts

you could accually pull 2880 @ 14.4volts
they also allow 10% saftey factor mean 180 is about what it would pull, I doubt u could pull 200 amps, also need electrical to back it up, eitherway thats one fucking powerful amp

Well....kinda. The rating I gave at 2400 is a "max" rms power for a 200A fuse. Fuses are rated to blow after a certain duration at the rating. So about 10sec at 200A will make it blow. But at 220A it will blow at 4 sec, yaddy yaddy. But realistically, you CANNOT rate an amplifier by doing this fuse calculation. An amplifier is not designed to blow the fuse when it is all the way up. That would be dumb. So the 2400W would be a best case rating. Most class D's are around 80% efficient, so maybe 1900W to the subs at the most? But thats clean power. You can get "more" by distorting it. Subs can play over 10% distortion without you hearing it anyway.
Don't worry. It'll pound no matter how much the amp puts out.

200 amps is just the recommended fuse size from the manufacturer...the specs say its stable down to 2 ohms but ive heard it can take 1 ohm loads for SPL burps so i would have to upgrade the fuse for that.
birthsheet says 2512@2ohms mono at 14.4 volts for this particular amp

Sounds alot like my 500D. It handles the 1ohm load for about 5 minutes continuous. Then over heats. And I've also measured the voltage with a meter at about 50Hz. It came out to 1400W total, or 350W per sub. That amp should be burly as hell man. What is your load going to be setup like? You have 2 18" DVC's? So one amp per speaker? I gotta hear this when its done.
It might be fun to have a camaro only sound-off!
