Finally Took it back outta the car from the meet and started doing some more fibreglass work.

I was finally forced to lay some mat down on the sides even thought I didn't want to and now it's hard as a rock.

The top still needs some work but I threw on two more layers of glass today and the mitregauge says it's about 5/16" inch thick so I still got a ways to go.

Lookin good! Do any parts shake with the bass going? One of these days I'm going to do the box for my W6..... one day....

Kinda Skipped a Few updates, just wanted to get the Box sanded good and put it in the trunk for summer; and well summer's over so obviously my car's gone into storage and the re-build up happens.

Planning on Adding a Audiobahn Line Driver and prolly a Audiobahn Cap to match and thro some blue neon's in but I'm seriously undecided wether or not to glass the rest of the trunk area.

Suggestions....?

id say to glass the sides aswell....would look killer and give you something to do over winter.

but

line drivers and caps are pretty much useless for most people.

do you have a stock alternator? stock big three wiring? what amps are you running?

Shifty_Capone

i've got a stock alternator and as far as I know I don't think they make aftermarket 200amp + alternators for LT1's, all the wires have been upgraded, ie. 4ga. Amp Wire, Batteries Been Grounded Twice, Factory ground and I grounded with a 4ga. wire The block has a 4ga. ground as well but I never changed the Power wire going to the alternator.

I'm running a 500.1 JL Audio amp and they're rated for a true 500W RMS. so the 4ga. should be good enough

yea just upgrade the alt charging wire and you should be good to go as is. 500 watts shouldnt have a whole lot of current draw. you could probably get by with your stock alt because that battery you're using is strong.

you definitely dont need a cap though

line driver wont make a noticeable difference either in my opinion.

you could probably spend that money on a matching amp..maybe the 300/4 for your speakers and glass that into one of the sides

Yup, I agree. Just upgrade the wire from the back of the alternator to the block it attaches to. That will make a big difference. Caps are pretty much a worthless creation in my opinion. They only help with high surge currents. Most amplifiers these days have lots of caps built into them already too.

Do you have some amp placement ideas? It would look neat to float them over your box at the same height as your speaker! Bend up some brackets and there you go!

I was likely gonna stagger the Line Driver and The Amp on the pass. side where the spare tire well was. I think that'd be the easiest and I'd have the most room on that side. On the drive side is the motor for the Convertable Top so I have hardly an room so I planning on puttin the cap on an angle on that side.

As far as the worthlessness (is that even a word) of the Line Driver and The Cap well to late cuz I already bought them and got a good deal on them so mine as well use them.

Certaintly wont hurt anything then! And since you already have them, no reason not to.

Scribble on the trunk pics to show where you want to put them, i wanna see what you have in mind.

id think about trying some glass flush mounting of the amps in the trunk lid...and then doing the cap and line driver beside the box.

Decided To take a break from fibreglassin and the whole general trunk area until I get my new wiring kit and run all the wires to I took today's nice weather and put it to use and installed my rear 6.5"s

And fuck was it ever a pain in the ass workin in the backseat of a 4th gen, specially when my shoulder ate roll cage every few mins.

its a coaxial speaker with the small tweeter in the middle.

you can run a crossover to anything you just change the crossover points.

oo so the center speaker would actually have different inputs? thats sweet. i know u can put a crossover to anything i was just confused cuz all his terminals were in use but i onyl saw one speaker

Shifty_Capone
10-18-2006, 04:42 PM
i use fleece for big things like sub boxes and I've been trying pantyhose for tight corners and seems to work better

Daniel Doerksen
10-18-2006, 04:48 PM
you can pour resen on fleece and that works?
i dont really know too much obviously

Shifty_Capone
10-18-2006, 04:56 PM
no no use a paint brush and or a small paint roller I hate using the brushes cuz the hiars always come off and dry in the fibreglass

Daniel Doerksen
10-18-2006, 05:46 PM
oh sry i meant paint it on, i didnt mean pour..
i just always thought it had to be a special material

nope you can apply it to anything really.

fleece is good because its thick and absorbs a lot of fluid.

i used an old dish cloth before although the application didnt need to be stretched too much

lol! well I work at a recycling plant so anytime I see pantyhose or fleece come thru I put it to the side. I found about 40 sq. ft of mint black fleece last week (y)

Well I got back into the swing of things and I'm hoping to get the drunk done and has the dvd player, and the speakers all 100% done for Spanish Banks so everyone can see. I decided to change my approach a bit I realized glassin the whole trunk will take forever and be unpracticall since it's still my "summer Daily Driver" it'd just end up gettin strached anyways and it's tedious to get perfect.

So instead I'm gonna fill in the spare tire well and make an amp rack in the corner and behind it I'll mount the Line Driver, and I decided to scrap the cap idea since I'm only running 500 watts RMS to the W7; didn't really seem practical

I'm still waiting on my Streetwires PS0B1 wiring kit's ordered it from Cardomain.com last week and as soon as I get that I'll be rocking and rolling.

I also dropped my subbox today on the side while I was moving it and I had to resort to the worst thing ever BONDO! Had to fill in some pretty nasty scratches that I couldn't sand out.
