Hi

I want to do a gear change on my 98 Camaro from 273 to 342. It is the stock 7.5. Should I go with the Eaton or Detroit Truetrack? Any recommendations appreciated.

Thanks JA

I like the Detroit True Trac because it does not use clutch packs, so nothing to wear out. The gearset in the Detroit will give you flawless performance

Hi
That is what I was thinking. However, I have been talking to IWE and they say the Eaton is the only way to go in the 7.5 for durability. They do not seem to like the Detroit that much.

That's funny, because in the 4x4 world no one will even touch Eaton units; EVERYONE uses the Detroit Truetrac or locker (usually locker in the rear, True Trac up front). 4x4 puts way more strain on clutch packs LSD's than drag racing because of the uneven terrain.
