What was the first fbody you owned? what were the options etc?


My first one was a 89 IROC vert, red exterior. Had ZERO options, 305 TBI - 5 speed, No A/C, roll up windows, manual locks, only two speakers in the dash with tape deck. It was a lot of fun :D

my first f-body was / is a 69 sc 255hp m21-4speed with very few options, grab handle on dash, speedometer buzzer, hood and trunk lights, standard black interior, hugger orange with mini-hockey stripes around wheel wells.......it is sitting in my back yard, with 28,600 miles on it, and hasn't been driven in 23 years.

ok mine was bought by my dad new in 78 ordered, mom got it, went to crap, i bought it, had it since. only 100k on it still. been through alot. has black z28 interior, power windows, defrost etc. nothing special no a/c stuff like that. optional 3.42 gear with the th350 350sbc. fun car till i wrecked it and turned it into a race car. now its like unleashing hell on my ass. i want another one someday.

well the only thing i could see being faulty is the bulb, which i imagine is one of a kind, the connectors are easy to fix.

learned how to wrench on it, did clutch, heater core, water pump, windsheild wiper motor, turned out to be switch, so I did that, rad, brakes, some body work, spray bombed painted it, install stereo, built first sub box, all in 8 months,
haven't stoped since

1st black 1988 Camaro coupe,305 TBI 5 speed 3:08 open diff, loaded option wise, less power seats and leather. was a factory maroon color but was painted black when i got it. still have it 7 years later!

2nd white 1987 pontiac firebird formula, 305 4 bbl, 5 speed 3:42's posi, a few minor mods, bought it for $2000, put $800 in to it and sold it for $3500.

3rd co owner of a blue 1985 iroc-z 305 tpi, 4 speed auto 3:23 gears (i think) 4 wheel disk,factory bilsteins, loaded for options

4th blue 1986 coupe parts car, bout semi gutted then i gutted more of it and crushed it with my bobcat!

not only was this my first camaro but first car period, i got it with no motor, put a van 350 with 4bolt mains that i built, lasted about 6 months (torque wrench i used on heads was faulty) and i drove it quite a bit with water in OIL :(. But now she has a healthy 350, 4 bolt main, 2.02 port and polished heads, 650 double pumper, weind dual plane intake, xe262 cam and roller tipped rockers

1981 Firebird Formula. Almost every option, including T-tops. Had a 305 with a crack in the block, my old man bought it for $500, JB Weld'ed the crack, and gave it to me for my 16th Christmas. The point was that I was supposed to learn about cars on it, and I actually did learn a fuckload from it. It was also my main highschool ride. Unfortunately, those two things combined also mean that it had the shit kicked out of it. Right now it's rusting away in the driveway with no engine. It basically needs a $30,000+ restoration, which I can't give it yet but have sworn to give it someday. Of all my cars this is the one I will never part with. I'd hate myself forever if I did.

1990 IROC-Z, Full Power options, t -top, 2.73 drum rear, auto LB9, red interior. swapped in complete alpine stereo, had the 305 professionally rebuilt, swapped black interior, lowered, exhaust etc.

bought for $4800, dumper over $10,000, sold for $6000... new owner (ace holio) swapped in a 5spd and a 3.45 9 bolt posi disc rear end in itn and ran a 13.9 in the 1/4.

recently been stolen and torched :cry:

first camaro i owned was a really weird '86 3rd gen v6 sport coupe. i was 17, a fucked up alchoholic coke dealer.

the dash was stamped Camaro Z27, and i still don't know what that means, i have never seen another one since.

it had real dual exhaust, with a 2.8 fi v6, and a transmission with a blown overdrive solenoid. hit the rev limiter at 120kph.

i bought it from a shop that was going to do an engine swap and went bankrupt.. 200 bucks i think..

both heads were warped and it pissed combustion gasses into the water jacket, the coolant was black. i never changed it.

i ran the shit out of that car, it was fun as hell... i never let it below 4000rpm when it was moving..

the first week i had it, i hit a massive unpredictable sheet of ice at 4am at 120kph with the rev limiter whining. i hit a telephone pole head on. the camaro won. telephone pole fell over, knocked out power all over town, car only had a bit of a crack on the front.

four years later (and that's four years of 5+ hours a day driving, no repairs, odometer had rolled..), the brake master cyl. blew into a million peices when i tapped the brakes going down a hill, in neutral, at over 140kph (as high as the speedo goes), flying towards a hairpin corner. the e-brake never worked, and i was fucked.

i sacrificed the car to save my life, i went right into 2nd, one of the pistons threw a rod and ended up in the crankcase and the transmission ripped apart.

when i ended up slowing down to 80 and pulling the corner completely sideways, it still ran well enough on 5 cylinders and with only first gear functional to get to the gas station.

ever since then, all i've driven are camaros.

I was 16 in 1987. Swamping on garbage truck in Edmonton. There was a 76' Type LT sitting in the weeds of a backyard all summer. One day the guy was in his yard so I asked him if it was for sale. He said "If you can get it outta here it's yours". It was Robin Egg blue with custom aftermarket (Leaky) T-Tops, Turbine aluminum mags, Z28 air induction hood and black Trans Am seats. It sat in that yard for 5 years with a blown head gasket on 350 full of antifreeze sludge. My friends and I towed it home. My dad wouldn't let me put in on the drive way so it sat on the street where I took the heads off. I dismantled the heads and hot tanked all the parts. I cleaned the block best I could with it still in car. Thru it all back together and it Ran!! I couldn't believe it. It burnt oil of course but it still had some jam to it. I drove it for 1 summer and then sold it to a coworker for $1000. :kekeke: Even tho it was a P.O.S it was a cool P.O.S for a 16yr old and my buddies and I had a blast with it. :D Not only was it my 1st F-Body it was my very first car.

Is the same one I own now...that's right...bought her brand new in Oct.'91 and she's fully loaded, pwr everthing, it ALL still works, she's 100% original with the exception of things like I replaced rad once and cat converter and the tires but Rims are original:, but other than things like wipers, she's 100% stock. Grey leather interior, still perfect. carpets. everything works. I'm the only one whose ever driven her and the only owner! She's also a 5 speed..hehehehehe 145mph speedo...7000rpm My baby is FAST.:D Did I mention I loooove it? LOL Oh and I am getting a a\c retro fit tomorrow, she finally gave ran out..after 19 yrs!! Oh and the clutch I replaced once.

Mine was a Robin egg blue, 4 speed, 76' Type LT with really leaky custom T-tops and a Black cloth interior from an 80' Trans Am. I bought it for $400 and rescued it from several years parked in a backyard. It had some other custom fiberglass work on it that had seen better days. Motor was supposed to be around 300hp. But it had sat with a blown head gasket and full of antifreeze since it was parked. I pulled everything apart all grey and gooey, cleaned and hot tanked everything I could, got it back together and it actually fired up and ran quite well. However it was oil thirsty and left a blue haze behind it lol. Drove it for 6 months and sold it for $1000 to a guy I worked with. He blew it up within 2 months. I kept the cool Turbine wheels and put them on my bug. I was 16

Unlike others on here, I went head on with a light post at Granville and 49th doin about 75km........My camaro lost......BADLY!!!!!!! But I had to have another. Went out and bought a horrible '87 Berlinetta that a V6 with a dead hole. Car was stolen twice in 4 weeks. Nothin but bad luck with that one. 8 months after the crash I found another Maui blue '88 sport coupe......And I've had that car for the last 14 yrs now. I now also have a '90 RS.

1975 firebird 400 auto blue and grey and primer and tonnes of bondo, it had a vi on it and i was only 16 so never got to insure it cause i had no money! it had a really awesome black custom diamond pattern interior including roof dash pads front and back door panels and it had early 80s camaro wheels, i thinkj i paid 500$ for it and would buy it again in a second!

Same one that I own now, bought new in April 1983 Z28 from Duecks on Marine (the old store). Factory ordered, custom interior, blue on blue, A/C delete, pw/pl/p hatch/locking storage cover/cruse/HD Cooling/HD Alternator/p antenna/ delay wipers/ Floor mats

Since the I have added the L69 Air Cleaner, power mirrors, swapped out the TH200 for a 700R4, added a Posi Rear, and 1988 (three stripe) Iroc-Z 16" mags. Aluminum drum brakes, aluminum rad support and two hoods steel AND plastic.

A 4bolt roller TBI 350 is being readied to replace the stock LG4 305.
