anyone know someone that will do it? for reasonable price.. my dads freind has a wrecked 3rdgen with a 305/5spd that i might buy off him as a donor car..
where is a good shop that can do this. and do a good job.
either that or i'm just goin to wait a till i have the cash and the red 3rdgen mike has for sale.

No, I'm not going to volunteer, but I've done that job a few times. I assume you have an '87? The donor car should be an '84 or later to make it less trouble. The early 3rd gens used a different pedal assy. with a manual pushrod for the clutch release, a different bellhousing, and a special T10 4 spd. The T5 "non-world class" trans from anything prior to '88 is inferior to the later ones. You could make these older parts work, but you don't want to do that...
The swap itself is very simple if you have the correct donor car that matches yours.

really its a waste of cash unless your car is absoultly mint
plus theres alot more then a motor and tranny difference in a 6 and an 8,
suspention and what not

yeah, if you did it yourself its more worth it but paying somebody would be very costly,
you could part the wrecked car, sell your car and take the cash you would spend paying somebody to do the conversion
and buy a nice car

yea. my car is def. not mint. i just thought it might be a solution to the problem of the engine in my car going; which im fairly sure is going to happen soon.
it started making a howling type noise today. only makes the noise when it's in park at idle.. when you're inside.. sounds like it's coming from the tranny or further down the driveline.. when outside.. it sounds like it's from the differential.. ideas?

yea.. that is what i was thinking. but it's coming from that area... :ugh:
or so it seems.. the car has so many noise's i can't tell where anything comes from lol. exhaust leaks don't help.
could it possibly be the exhaust? and only makes the noise with low rpm's (that's another problem.. my car idles at about 500-600rpm.)
